About Us

The staff in the Study Abroad Program (SAP) view education abroad as a means by which DePaul students can engage in a life-changing endeavor, one that enables students to develop the necessary skills and aptitude to succeed in today’s competitive environment.  DePaul’s Vision 2018 strategic plan indicates that it is important for our students to gain “international and comparatives perspectives” so that we “develop in students the ability to act as responsible global citizens.”  The University has also established a set of learning goals and outcomes, including one which seeks to foster “intercultural and global understanding” among our students.

To this end, SAP’s mission is to provide DePaul students with a diversity of education abroad offerings, ranging in academic discipline, program type, cross-cultural engagement, duration, and cost.  Our staff strive to be knowledgeable, professional, transparent, supportive, and relevant.  Key initiatives that we have undertaken include:

  • Making education abroad programs accessible, affordable, and financially viable;
  • Assessing and streamlining current procedures to improve efficiency;
  • Minimizing the University’s liability for education abroad activities, both in terms of student health and well-being, as well as financial and budgetary compliance;
  • Refining existing and, where necessary, recommending new policies/practices to address the needs of education abroad activities at DePaul; and,
  • Building awareness of education abroad among DePaul constituents.
We invite all students, faculty and staff across the University to connect with us and help DePaul expand its internationalization efforts.
